  • At The Well Pelvis, we believe in providing personalized, high-quality pelvic floor therapy services tailored to the unique needs of each individual. To maintain this level of care and flexibility, we operate on a private-pay basis and do not directly accept insurance.

However, we understand the importance of affordability and accessibility to healthcare services. Therefore, upon request, we will issue you a superbill for services rendered, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please note that it is the responsibility of the consumer to verify coverage with their insurance provider and understand their reimbursement policies.

By operating as a private-pay business, we aim to empower our clients to take control of their healthcare journey while receiving the specialized care they deserve.

  • Pelvic floor therapy is highly individualized, and the specific techniques used will vary based on your unique needs and goals. With that being said, a variety of techniques and approaches are common during an evaluation or treatment session, including posture and breathing exercises, nervous system regulation, functional movement activities, and manual therapy techniques to release tension in tissues throughout the body, including internal examination and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles. Your therapist will also provide you with education and guidance surrounding daily routines and habits impacting your pelvic floor health and develop an appropriate home program with you.

  • Whether or not an internal examination may be necessary depends on various factors, including your reason for seeking pelvic floor therapy and your comfort level.

Internal examinations involve assessment of the pelvic floor musculature via the vagina or rectum to assess the tone, strength, flexibility, and coordination of the pelvic floor. These examinations can provide valuable information about pelvic floor function and help identify areas of tension, weakness, or dysfunction.

However, pelvic floor therapy can still be effective without internal examinations. External assessments and evaluations, such as palpation of the pelvic area, observation of movement patterns, and discussion of symptoms and medical history, can provide valuable insights into pelvic floor function and guide treatment planning.

Ultimately, the decision to have an internal examination is yours— and you can always change your mind. We want your pelvic floor therapy experience to feel safe and comfortable at all times.

  • It is best to dress comfortably so you can move freely during your session. A sports bra, t-shirt, loose pants/shorts or yoga pants would work fine!

  • Menstruation is a natural part of life. Evaluation and treatment, including internal examinations, can proceed as usual when you are on your period. However, it is up to your comfort level. We can always re-schedule your appointment if you would prefer.

  • Since each person’s medical history, symptoms, and goals are different, the length of treatment can vary from person to person. On average, many issues can be improved or resolved with 6-8 therapy sessions, as long as you are integrating the education and exercises into your daily routines.
